Roho AireRx SPPC Cushion

Wheelchair Cushions
AireRx wheelchair cushions provide the state-of-the-art in Anatomically Intelligent Design, select component materials, superior contours and optimal pressure distribution and relief to help prevent skin ulcers. And AireRx cushions feature Cool-Comfort Technology, protecting your skin by removing built-up body heat and moisture, major contributors to the risk of skin ulcers.

Cool-Comfort™ Technology
Protecting our skin from the persistent pressure of sitting (see Anatomically Intelligent Design™) does not have to result in the additional risk contributed by heat and moisture buildup.

A New Approach AireRx™ Technology maintains a separation and air flow layer between the perineum and pelvic areas and the cushion. This layer allows heat and moisture to escape out the rear of the cushion.

Cool-Comfort™ Circulation The Cool-ComfortSPPC™ cushions add battery-operated air circulation fans located within the air flow chamber. The fan circulated air assures maximum removal of retained body heat and moisture, directly addressing these major contributing factors to the risk of skin ulcers.

Anatomically Intelligent Design™

Primary Issues
Sitting on any conventional surface creates substantial pressure on the skin layers beneath the bony protuberances of the hips and tailbone. This persistent pressure can restrict blood flow, which hinders normal metabolism. It can also inflict direct damage on the tissues of the muscle and lower skin layers. These conditions, if not alleviated every few minutes, and especially if combined with some kind of bruising event, can lead to skin integrity breakdown and to dangerous subsequent infection.

Traditional Approach
The traditional approach to preventing seating problems begins by reducing the pressure with a compressible cushion. The materials typically used in pressure-relieving cushions, however, also act as thermal insulators and retain body heat. Before long (15 - 60 minutes), the retained heat increases the temperature of the skin from its normal level (about 25° C or 72° F) to body temperature (about 37° C or 98° F). At this higher heat level, the demand for circulation is even greater, and the risk of skin breakdown is increased greatly. At the hotter skin temperature, sweat inevitably accumulates. The released moisture and waste products contribute even further to the risk of breakdown.

The AireRx Difference—Anatomically Intelligent Design™
Our bodies are not designed for prolonged sitting. That’s why AireRx Seating Products are designed to provide greater stability, improved posture and superior pressure distribution when compared to traditional cushion seating solutions. AireRx cushions incorporate unique geometry and utilize variable-density construction technologies. AireRx cushions set a new standard for state-of-the-art support, skin protection, and deliver Cool Comfort to the user.

Anatomically Intelligent Design™ delivers important benefits to the user:

•Multi-density construction for better pelvic stability and lateral reach
•Firmer support regions allow easier transfers, improved forward reach
•Improved energy transfer to wheelchair push rims
•Front to rear contours channel fluids down and away from user
•Pressure reduction at high risk areas lowers skin-ulcer risk
